A female figure swims through the waves of her vulnerability. In a constant search for harmony between thought and movement, Hoor Malas strives to find her place within the delicate boundaries where these elements merge and confront one another. Her gestures, naturally influenced by her Middle Eastern culture, evoke the social constraints of her origins, resonating with a persistent echo in today's world. This state of being revisits itself through an awareness of the weight of inherited social expectations, as well as the freedom that dance provides her.
Born in Syria, Hoor's work as an auto-ethnographic choreographer emerges from a reflection on the intimate, gradually bringing socio-cultural and political issues forward.
