Since 2007, my journey with VIDF has been truly transformative. As a designer, it’s been a joy to collaborate with TRUE artists and world-class photographers. From my first encounter with the festival, I felt an immediate connection—not as a dancer, but through the amazing people involved.
Over the years, VIDF became my creative haven. Working alongside Jay and Barbara, I explored various design aesthetics, blending visual elements with the powerful narratives of dance. Each project challenged me to innovate and grow, and their invaluable feedback fostered an environment where ideas flourished.
As we embarked on a new chapter with our rebranding, I was excited to be part of this evolution. Partnering with VIDF’s new Festival Co-Directors, Deanna + Victor, we aimed to encapsulate the grassroots spirit of the society while honouring the foundations laid by Jay and Barbara.
The new logo and dynamic visuals capture the essence of dance—fluid yet powerful—reflecting our commitment to artistic excellence and inclusivity.
Unveiling this new identity feels like a tribute to Jay and Barbara—a celebration of their unwavering support. Their belief in the transformative power of dance has shaped countless lives, including my own. My 7-year-old daughter is now dancing and hopes to perform on one of the stages at VIDF one day.
Looking back, I see how far I’ve come as a designer. This journey is about the connections, shared experiences, and collective growth we’ve nurtured. I’m excited for what lies ahead as we continue to evolve, honouring our past while stepping boldly into the future. Thank you, Jay and Barbara, for laying the groundwork for this incredible journey.
