A solo traversing physical discomfort and duration to make visible the marks that are left behind by addiction and recovery, i am an impossible thing holds the contradictions of protection and precarious violence.
From Heather: “I really could not be happier to share i am an impossible thing for the first time in my home country and to work with curators who really saw and understood the work for what it is. These moments are so rare and necessary.”
Heather's dances have been described as “openhearted and palpab[ly] vulnerable”, characterized by “exacting, challenging, and physically demanding choreography".
Read Heather’s essay on nudity in performance (which VIDF has never been afraid of 😊).
Heather is recognized for her complex dance/sound intersections. The sound design for i am an impossible thing was partially developed by dull aka Marc Bartissol, who passed away in 2019, and has been further expanded by musician Courtney Swain.
