Performances
The 2010 VIDF, celebrating our 10th anniversary, is excited to present outstanding culturally diverse dance performances by artists from BC, Ontario, the United States, New Zealand, Denmark, and Taiwan. Presented with the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, the 2010 VIDF takes place during the Paralympic Games period of March 12 - 21, 2010 with performances at the Roundhouse and at the Playhouse.
At 7pm, your $3 VIDF membership (included in your ticket prices or can be purchased separately) gives you access to eight Roundhouse performances by Kokoro Dance, Flamenco Rosario, Out Innerspace, and Michael Sakamoto. At the Roundhouse at 8pm, see the world premiere of White Spider by Mascall Dance, be mesmerized by the astonishing Kitt Johnson from Denmark, be enthralled by the exquisite dancing of Taiwan's LAFA & Artists, and be transported by the Kickstart Festival's hip hop crutch-master Bill Shannon (USA) and the sublime Peggy Baker (Ontario).
At the Playhouse at 8pm, see Christopher House's newest choreography on the hand-picked dancers of Toronto Dance Theatre, experience the raw energy and spirituality of New Zealand's Black Grace, and celebrate the human spirit with Ronald K. Brown's Evidence Dance Company from New York.
There's more! Take master classes by Christopher House, Ronald K. Brown, and a five hour workshop with Kitt Johnson. See the visual art exhibition of paintings by I,Braineater and photography by Chris Randle. Stay after the free performances for dance discussion with Plank Magazine.
